The international conference Professional Communication and Translation Studies has been organized by the Department of Communication and Foreign Languages since 2001.  The conference aims to develop the exchange of ideas on the following topics:

  • Communication and public relations: theoretical and didactic problems and solutions
  • Linguistic insights into professional communication
  • Translation theory and translation didactics: their roles in communication
  • Foreign language teaching

Conference format

  • Sections: Communication and public relations, Linguistics, Translation studies, Foreign language teaching
  • Types of presentation:talk (20 minutes), workshop (60 minutes), panel discussion (2 hrs.)
  • Working languages: Romanian, English, French and German

The proceedings’ main publishing language is English. The papers presented at the conference in French or German are published in the language of their presentation. A section at the end of each volume includes all the abstracts and keywords of these papers translated into English.

The papers submitted for publication are blindly reviewed by two members of the proceedings’ international editorial team. Papers not included in the conference programme or not presented at the conference are not considered for publication.

The research work must not have been previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere, either in whole.

Professional Communication and Translation Studies (ISSN 2065-099X) is an international peer-reviewed conference proceedings published annually in one volume.

The proceedings include selected papers presented at the International Conference on Professional Communication and Translation Studies and are divided into four main sections:

  • Communication and public relations: theoretical and didactic problems and solutions,
  • Linguistic insights into professional communication
  • Translation theory and translation didactics: their roles in communication, and
  • Foreign language pedagogy

Author(s) Codes of Ethics
Professional Communication and Translation Studies (PCTS) publishes high-quality scholarly papers. The PCTS Code of Ethics describes the journal policies for ensuring the ethical treatment of Author(s) and the publication process. Authors are encouraged to read these guidelines and address any questions or concerns to Editors, at pcts*upt.ro. These guidelines apply to manuscripts submitted to PCTS and may be revised at any time by the Editors. Commitment to ethical professional conduct is expected from every researcher. The research work should neither neglect nor discriminate against individuals and groups who may benefit from advances in research.

Research Work 
The Author’s research work should:
Contribute to a specific knowledge domain within the Journal research topics;
The research conducted should benefit the society and contributes to the knowledge domain;
Research must be conducted with respect for all within the community and for all communities in society regardless of race, ethnicity, culture and/or religion;
Respect the rules of confidentiality with regard to the review process;
All data must be treated with appropriate levels of confidentiality and anonymity. Authors should ensure the accuracy, appropriateness, ownership of data and research results.

Originality and manuscript submission
PCTS only publishes original papers, which have not been published before. The research work must not have been previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere, either in whole.

Plagiarism
The submitted manuscript should be free of any plagiarism, falsification, fabrications, or omission of significant material. Authors are expected to explicitly cite others’ work and ideas, even if the work or ideas are not quoted verbatim or paraphrased. This standard applies whether the previous work is published, unpublished, or electronically available. The authors are solely responsible for the content of their articles.

Double-Blind Review
PCTS follows a double-blind review process, whereby Authors do not know Reviewers and vice versa. The manuscript should not include any self-revealing information that would identify the Author to a Reviewer.

Copyright Law
Authors should check their manuscript for possible breaches of copyright law and secure the necessary permissions (where permissions are needed) before submission.

Open Access Policy
Professional Communication and Translation Studies provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Professional Communication and Translation Studies is an Open Access journal which means that its entire electronic content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the BOAI definition of Open Access.
